Imy Shenouda
Counselling Trainee, under supervision
Sometimes, the thoughts and feelings we carry begin taking up more space in our lives than we ever meant to give them.
They may hurt, overwhelm you, make you question who you are, or have simply been with you for as long as you can remember. At some point, you might notice that these internal struggles have taken over, and are essentially running the house.
I see difficult thoughts and emotions as messengers. When ignored, they keep knocking, and they will often knock louder and louder until someone listens.
Therapy is not necessarily about removing them entirely. Together, we can open the door, listen to what they have to say, understand where they are coming from, and decide what role they get to play in your story. You may not always choose what shows up at your door, but you have a choice in what happens next. My hope is to help you feel more capable of navigating whatever comes your way, more confident in your choices, and in full control of your home again.
After all, just because something knocks at your door does not mean you have to hand it the keys.
